  2. I was very disappointed that I was not made aware that y'all would charge me $500 to install a rear seat. This was something I could have easily done myself (I had previously installed the same seat in another rover, and it took a friend and I all of 30 minutes to get it done). I brought it to y'all because you were currently doing $1000s of work on the vehicle, and I thoughty'all could quickly put the seat in while the car was in your shop. If I had been advised how much y'all would charge for the seat installation, I would have told you not to bother and Inwould have done it myself. I will probably not be returning to Motorcars, which sucks, because the quality of the work you do is high, and I drive a vehicle that will break down frequently, and I will have to find another place to take it. – How can we better meet your needs?

      thank you again for the review.

      i have spent a fair amount of time reviewing the way your seat (and other items) were handled.

      the bottom line is:

      1. that the seat mounted in the truck was a "brand x" seat - and had been in the truck for a very long time.
      2. your truck is a 1973 model 88 and must be dismantled for virtually any under carriage work.
      3. you supplied a "used seat with used hardware" to put into the truck.
      4. the position of the center frame channel causes access problems to the seat mountings both un-mounting the old seat and re-mounting the new seat.
      5. the hardware supplied was of some, but little use. we had to find suitable length hardware and clean and modify what we could salvage.
      6. the new seat required measurement etc to center so that it would fold and unfold without interfering with front seats while providing safe mountings.
      7. the bolts and hardware mounting the original seat had to be coaxed out of the truck - they were rusted and we had limited access.
      8. we have documented that our tech spent 6 + hours on this project, and we only billed you for four of those hours.
      9. this seat swap was a custom installation without measurements or drawings, or existing holes to be used.
      10. our apprentice had 2.85 hours working one side of the project (from the top or the bottom) assisting the tech with holding hardware to be loosened or tightened. his time was not billed to you.
      11. we spent the time to insure that the back seat was mounted safely and professionally.
      12. i honestly believe you received full value and then some for the custom seat work and installation .....


      i understand that you and a buddy have done a seat swap in 30 minutes..... with respect - not this seat and not in this truck... so if that is a fact, then i wish to bring you on as an "uber tech" !!!

      but no one likes to spend money for a service that they do not value. as you can imagine, there is actually no way to know how long something as simple as "swapping a back seat" will take... there is no estimate, flat rate or guide.... so the only way to get it done is to do it.... through the rust, corrosion and custom installation.

      what we should have said.... "Mr. Wilkens, we have no idea how long it will take to put the seat in. do you have a "budget".... ? and then sorted it out from there.

      and... also.... during the investigation, i discovered that you were given a blanket discount on labor of $160., an internet coupon for $200. and another coupon for $200. for a total of $560.00. this should count for something ? anything ?

      ... and .... like you said, we get an "8" on the quality of the service work..... which is a compliment.... and we accept that.... we have very dedicated, interested and talented people at work here... and if the only good we are is an "8 on quality".... then that i

  14. Earn trust by insuring what you say you did is backed up. 1) show dirty filters 2) if settings are altered - fix them back 3) if issue when left, don't state it is fixed if it isn't – How can we better meet your needs?

    I came in for oil change. my clock and date settings were altered and not correct any more when I picked up vehicle. Cabin and engine air filter changed and was told they were black but no picture or filter shown. Washer fluid light that was on when car was left , was still on when picked up yet was told it was now off. – Please leave any final comments about your visit here.

  16. JT had what I experienced as quite a resistance to supplying the pricing for materials and survive charges that I would incurr when next I bring my Rover in for repairs. I also asked for a recommendation as to what tires and sizes I need for my particular Rover. – How can we better meet your needs?
